I booked this for my boyfriends Birthday. This place was truly incredible and no better way to describe but pure relaxation. The owner, Erik, had been nothing but kind and accommodating since the first notification of our booking. We even canceled at first do to a close friend having a car accident and us thinking we may loose him so wanted to be by his bedside. Ultimately, we decided we didn’t want to miss this trip and needed some happiness in our lives so I contacted him personally and asked if we could have our reservation back. He was so nice and understanding he did it for me right away. When we got there I realized the pictures just really don’t do it justice. It is SO peaceful and beautiful! Erik gave us a lovely tour and afterwards left us to ourselves to enjoy all this place has to offer. The hot tub over the river i could not get enough of! And the spa room is a must use. He has massage therapists you can schedule with but we just ended up having a romantic time giving one another a massage instead and he has some really great smelling essential oils for you to use. I really could go on and on about how wonderful a time it truly was! I am sure you can guess, I very much recommend this place and can not wait to go back. It is secluded but still conveniently located close to town with local restaurants and a small grocery. We brought our own and used the kitchen the whole stay. It is fully equipped. Last thing I’ll say is it is also located near some great hikes and Olympic National Park is not too far from it either. We hope to visit again and explore a little bit more the hikes around it. I reserved both the Zen Cabin and the Buddha Cabin for a birthday celebration for my sixteen year old son. When we arrived, we were warmly greeted by the owner, Erik. He spent a good deal of time showing us around the grounds and explaining how everything worked in the cabins. Erik truly thought of everything with these cabins! We couldn't have asked for more perfect accommodations. The Zen cabin was thoughtfully and artfully furnished. It was a sight to behold. Just outside, there was a walkway leading to the hottub overlooking the river and a Spa Cabin where massages are done. What an idyllic setting! The Buddha cabin was more rustic-perfect for my crew of teenage boys. There were fire pits at each cabin and plenty of room for the boys to run around outside. I can't say enough about both the perfectly wonderful cabins and Erik's hospitality. We will definitely be back!

You could travel the world and be hard pressed to find an equal to Zen River. The owner Erik has overlooked no detail in assuring the most serene, comfortable, and enchanting experience possible. Between a cabin that somehow manages to be both cozy and spacious, a hot tub and detached spa cabin overlooking the tranquil Quilcene river (let's face it, every bit of the property overlooks said river... by the end of our stay I felt it was a part of me), and the indescribably wonderful sense of place afforded by every glance out the window or step outside, it's hard to imagine any room for improvement. Our two small children fell in love with the place just as much as we did...I have a feeling we'll return sooner rather than later. There is certainly more relaxing, exploring, and breathing deep to be had here.

My family and I had a wonderful stay at the Zen River Retreat! The cabin is immaculate and artfully designed. There is an impressive attention to detail throughout the cabin. Listening to the river, while soaking in the hot tub, was so relaxing after a day of hiking. The host was very friendly and helpful. Overall, we would highly recommend this cabin!

Went for a weekend away - girls weekend! Our host Erik was very gracious and accommodating. The property is so beautiful and peaceful. The amenities are beautifully adorned and include all the comforts of home! We all had an amazing weekend we will talk about for years to come. Not to mention....possibly another stay. Maybe we will rent both cabins next time! I also highly recommend booking a masseuse as an added treat!

I love this cabin on the river, and Erik is a wonderful helpful host. I bring a group of writers to this cabin for a retreat once a season, and it is an excellent peaceful place to stay and write. All amenities are there, plus the nice extra space in the spa cabin with a heated floor. Lots of little nooks both inside and out on the property to take in the scenery. Looking forward to continuing to visit.

My best friends and I were looking for an ocean get away for a non-traditional Thanksgiving Holiday. When Erik's place came up, we immediately gave up on ocean side and settled into riverside. Turned out to be a most excellent choice. We laughed and played games, soaked in the hot tub til the wee hours in what felt like our own paradise. We love to cook and did so, but also found fantastic dining on the Hood Canal, (yum oysters!), and brunch with cocktails at the Olympic Timber House in Quilcene. Hesitated to post this review because we loved it so much and wanted to keep it to ourselves, (sigh). Erik is a gracious host, and he has provided a gracious space. We didn't want to leave.

Loved everything about our stay. Clean, serene, impeccably furnished. Erik could not have been more helpful. A blissful stay in Buddha cabin!
